About
Occupational Diving Covers Many Disciplines
It is generally agreed in the industry that scuba diving training is completely inadequate for Occupational diver training. Therefore entry level from ITDA to Occupational diving should be from an Advanced Diver level with a minimum of 30+ Open Water Dives or a Technical diver.
With the clear exception of Dry Specialist work -
ROV Operator - Hyperbaric Tender etc. General Diver will be trained in: SSA / Full Mask / Band Mask with Communications.
Scuba to Hard Hat and use of general underwater tools.
(Plus Emergency Procedures) and Hyperbaric chamber operations.
Search and Recovery (body & Vehicle) for example is included in our PSD Public Safety Diving programs...

UW Welding / Cutting
This is a physically demanding industry and, as a commercial diver, requires that a person pass a physical examination each year in order to maintain their commercial dive license.
It is also important that a person be extremely safety conscious when training or working underwater.
Because of the hours spent under water, it is also important that the welder have no fear of working in enclosed spaces.
In addition, and this should go without saying, but if you partake in heavy drinking or use drugs of any type, this is not for you. When things go wrong in the water, the go wrong fast. So you need every advantage you can muster which includes physical and mental strength.
Occupational Diving
Standards around the world maybe local, national or federal (UK HSE), (ADAS) etc.
And there are organizations representing the Industry like IMCA and IADC / ADC.
SITA -IHMP (ITDA) - DFA meets the Singapore Ministry of Manpower and Workplace Safety and Health council standards and are recognised by such bodies.

ITDA Occupational Diving Programs
Hard Hat Diving w/ SSA/UW Comms
After Scuba to Full Face / Band Mask or Hard Hat the next level is to master SSA (Surface Supplied Air). Where a diver or team of divers uses a compressor or high volume cylinders situated at the surface or boat platform / support vessel. This requires an experience surface dive supervisor or project manager who is also trained in Emergency Recovery and Hyperbaric Operations.

ITDA Occupational Diving Programs
Full Face Mask /SSA / UW Comms
The use of a full face or Band Mask is not common in Scuba Diving but Technical Divers often use this equipment for additional safety when mixed gas diving.
Full face masks may also be used for Underwater Communications in both Scuba and Technical Diving, ITDA offers training and certification in this equipment. Note: Different manufactures may have different standards.

ITDA Occupational Diving Programs
Research / Scientific Diver / Full Face Mask with Comms
Research diving is a type of technical diving that involves the collection of scientific data in underwater environments. This type of diving requires specialized training and equipment to safely and effectively carry out data collection and analysis. Research divers may also be called upon to assist with underwater construction, maintenance, and repair work.

ITDA Occupational Diving Programs
Public Safety Diving
Public safety diving is a specialised form of diving that focuses on providing search and rescue, evidence retrieval, and hazardous material disposal services in a public safety context. It is a high-risk activity that requires a high level of training and safety protocols. For technical divers, public safety diving can offer a unique and rewarding experience while also providing valuable service to the community.

ITDA Occupational Diving Programs
ROV - UW Video Operations
This Remote Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) training program is designed to equip technical divers with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate and maintain ROVs for a variety of operations, including search and recovery, deep exploration, and monitoring. Participants will become familiar with the components of the ROV system and understand the fundamentals of in-water operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

ITDA Occupational Diving Programs
IHMP Hyperbaric Operations
Hyperbaric training for divers is designed to provide divers with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely and effectively complete operations in a hyperbaric environment. This training enables divers to understand the physics, physiology, and operations of hyperbaric chambers and the associated medical and safety considerations. This training also provides an understanding of the safety protocols and procedures to follow when working in a hyperbaric environment.
